Beatrix The Time Travelling Collie

Beatrix the Time Travelling Collie by Debra Murphy is a collection of heart warming tales as told by Beatrix the collie dog to her human mum Debra. The stories in the book are a combination of memories from Beatrix and the author. Adventures include a real-life lassie-style rescue on a mountain, finding a hypothermic human, and accidentally herding skiers.

All of the illustrations were initially sketched in pencil and then developed in ink before being scanned and sized. Debra provided reference photos to work from to enable me to keep a realistic liking of everyones features and to ensure that locations were recognisable. A small paw print was also drawn to be used as a page break in the book.

As an add on product, a calendar was also created with quotes and illustrations from the book.

They say a picture speaks a thousand words, these show Debra’s reaction when she was presented with the original illustrations. Yes, there were happy tears (there was also celebratory cake)!
